We have recently just finished removal of this jetmaster fire from the sitting room of this beautiful old manor house in the lovely countryside surroundings of south Northamptonshire, We removed the jetmaster fire & used specialist clay liner removal tooling to remove the clay liner running from the jetmaster up in to the bedroom above, ( Where there was an inspection hatch !! Very dangerous Risking Carbon Monoxide poisoning ) this was in such bad condition due to being extremely Tarred up & cracked due to chimney fires & poor sweeping from the sweep over years.
We removed the surround & fire, widened the opening & installed new concrete lintel for support, unfortunately when the Jetmaster Fire was installed builder decided to pour concrete around it ( so long hours of chopping away to remove it all ) this was needed to gives us the depth required for the stove to sit back in the recess,
Once we widened the builders opening we then had the pleasure to remove the clay liner which was removed due to being tarred so badly & cracked, making it unsafe to install Stainless Steel Liner due to being a fire risk, we done this from the above bedroom inspection hatch down, which once removed allowed us a non fire risk installation & more room to fit the 180mm liner, but due to the sharp bends within the chimney chamber is was apparent we would have to chop out some of the sharp bends to allow the liner safe passage, this meant making a rather large hole in the bedroom wall & in the chimney breast in the loft.
The top section of the chimney which is original still being rather tarred despite cleaning as best possible, with out causing damage, we wrapped the liner in an insulation jacket & also poured insulation the full length of the chimney for added protection & efficiency once we managed to install the liner, we obviously had to brick up the rather large holes we made in the bedroom & loft & this also gave us the opportunity to block off the inspection hatch as no longer needed, re-render & plaster walls
After plating & clamping off the liner at the top of the stack we installed new pot & stainless steel raintop cowl with new cement flaunching to allow water to disperse correctly ( signed & dated ) with the glorious countryside views from the scaffolding !!
We boarded out the builders opening & painted to customers required colour & installed new Clearview 650 multi fuel stove in beautiful fire glow brown with matching pipe work, this is all sealed off with metal closureplate, re-rendered & plastered the chimney breast to finish the much better sleek looking warmer stove..
We are very pleased with the outcome of this installation with some extremely hard work along the way but was totally worth it, for the customers who were so kind to let us bring their vision to life, it was a pleasure to complete installation for them & many thanks for the endless supply of drinks.. we will see you regularly for annual sweeping to keep everything in tiptop condition..
